Many people don’t know where to turn when they find out a loved one is lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, or queer (LGBTQ). Others don’t know where to go when they want to learn ways to support their LGBTQ friends and family through outreach and advocacy. Sometimes members of the LGBTQ community are looking for a safe and welcoming place to go for support.

Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG) is there for all of these people.

PFLAG Stillwater is one of more than 460 affiliates of Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays, a national non-profit organization.

Our confidential meetings and Facebook group provide spaces for non-judgmental support and to learn about sexual orientation and gender identity.

PFLAG Stillwater strives to provide education in a variety of ways:

♦ Through programs on topics of interest to members and the community.

♦ Through outreach to the community and faith-based groups to encourage moral leadership that fosters inclusiveness, acceptance, and affirmation.

♦ Annual participation and booth at Lights on Stillwater which is a welcoming and sharing event for OSU students and members of the community.

PFLAG Stillwater advocates for equal rights and treatment on issues including:

♦ Employment Discrimination

♦ Hate Crimes

♦ Safe Schools

♦ Marriage Equality

♦ Adoption and Parenting

By telling our stories and sharing our family photos, we remind officials that families include LGBTQ individuals. We encourage lawmakers to back LGBTQ-supportive policies and promote equal treatment and standing under the law.
